synopsis

Darren, manager of Bristol’s Vintage Market, is about to lose his lease. As he struggles to find a new home for his traders, we meet the community who have come to rely on it during its eight year history, and discover a unique side to this local store that goes beyond the quirky items on display.

Notes

Interest in telling this story really started for me in the wake of the Christchurch earthquakes, a city where I was born and raised. Aside from the obvious devastation of this event, there was a coming together of the community to create and reclaim a place they wanted to live in. The Vintage Market embodied this same feeling for me, by being part of the community and addressing some of their significant needs in a way that can only be done by people there, on the ground. So this film is a celebration and acknowledgment of that, in the context of a world where it's becoming less important.
